It’s been a while since I’ve played a shooter, and even longer since I’ve played a battle royale. Why not refresh my experience with new Warzone battle royale mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Especially since it’s free-to-play without requiring the main base game. So, where we dropping?
So far, my suspicions have been re-confirmed that multiplayer shooters and battle royale games aren’t my strengths. Nevertheless, I actually had fun trying to learn how to play Warzone, and the game looked and handled pretty well.
I don’t think this game is the Fortnite killer for the shooter battle royale genre. But I do think there are some interesting aspects of the game that make it unique, like match economy and the redeployment mechanic.
I think Warzone could evolve into something special if the developers stay on top of community feedback and fine tune the game’s pacing. Even if this battle royale release turns out to be a cash grab, I think there’s still a lot of potential for this developer and other’s to learn from what makes this game unique.
