Tonight we’re going to jump into NieR: Automata for the first time. I don’t know much about the game or it’s characters, other than the game being well received by the action RPG community, since its original release in 2017. I also know that there is A LOT of fan art and cosplay surrounding the female protagonist, so I’m interested to see what the hype is all about.

There is a lot going on with NieR: Automata, and this is a good thing. Early on, there’s something about the chaos of the game’s storytelling, action, and forced gameplay perspectives that lets you know that you’re jumping into the deep end of something epic. Then, as fast as it started, it slows to almost a crawl, so that you can get your bearings, and start acclimating yourself to the game.

It’s unique and interesting how characters and dialogue in the game help you adjust your game settings and options. Then there’s customizing 2B’s pod which affects the heads up display and the user interface. So there’s no telling how far this game will go to tell its story and interact with the player in a fun and unique way, and I’m all for it.
