Let’s Play: Half-Life: Alyx (PC-VR), Part 3

My instincts about Half-Life: Alyx being a great virtual reality game have been confirmed, so far. Now my instincts are telling me that the ride is almost over. A part of me hopes a whole new end game mode becomes available as Alyx sets up for her next appearance in the Half-Life 2, or even a Half-Life: Alyx 2. However, this is unlikely.

Then there are the words of the first Vortigaunt that we encountered. It spoke about perspective of free will and choice, or perhaps regarding the fabric of space and time. It also said that it was “severed from the Vortessence,” so Valve can write off it’s ramblings as literal brain damage.

Will we get a glimpse of what the Half-Life franchise is working on as a result of the choices Alyx makes in Half-Life: Alyx? Or, maybe we are altering the future, now that we have a different perspective of the future’s past.

Wow! Even though it still feels like the ending is right around the corner, we’re still getting new enemies and unique puzzle scenarios. Especially with “Jeff,” there was the perfect amount of tension, suspense and humor to make for very memorable moments.

Tonight was probably my favorite night of streaming Half-Life: Alyx, so far. But as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Until then, I’ll keep enjoying the experience.
