Let’s Play: Shadow of the Colossus (PS4) Grief, Sacrifice or Resurrection? (Part 2 – Ending)

**SPOILERS (kind of)** After my last play session with Shadow of the Colossus, I was convinced that the world that we are playing in is a metaphorical one. The initial tone set with death and loss then our character choosing to act instead of accepting someone else’s fate. So my question is, are we in a world of grief, sacrifice, or resurrection from damnation? Also, at what cost is our character’s objective achieved?

Now that was a pretty epic ending for a pretty epic game. I enjoyed how they actually teased the answers to some of our questions regarding the plot and lore of the world, but they still left plenty of room for speculation and imagination. While the last boss was more of a challenge of game mechanics, the hard fought battle felt very satisfying once overcome.

At first I was clearly skeptical of the ending’s ability to justify and make this adventure a worth while effort. But somehow the developers masterfully crafted a post-adventure world where there is liberation from the previous world and there is something to live for. I can definitely see myself returning to this game for the very unique experience and challenge modes. Until then I would just like to thank you for joining me on this adventure.
