Let’s Play: Shadow of the Colossus (PS4) Why Can’t We Be Friends?

I’ve only ever tried playing Shadow of the Colossus, and never had a chance to sit down and beat it. So when it was remastered for the PlayStation 4, I was super excited. Even though all that I know is that I have to go around and climb giants to kill them. I can’t help but to wonder, without any context, why can’t we be friends? I guess we’ll find out.

This game looks great! Because I spent such limited time with the original, it’s a hard for me to truly appreciate the improvements. But on it’s own the game stand strong as a solid looking game. The controls and camera can get a little finicky at times, whether on foot, on a horse or holding on for dear life to a colossus.

However it’s easy to forgive drawbacks the stem from dated mechanics, especially given the ambition of the physics and aspects of player movement. The only other thing that stood out for me was how tame the colossus were compared to the challenges of epic boss fights in games like Dark Souls and Monster Hunter. Nevertheless, the game is a beautiful and enjoyable.
